It’s the Season

The evening walk has become a ritual for me, a ritual carried over from when Randy and I walked or biked in the evenings. At first I was so sad missing Randy that I had to force myself to walk without him; but now I’m evolving and find such a comfort and release of the day’s tensions, from this walk.

But tonight it dawned upon me, that I’m imagining myself to be that original Adam on an evening walk with my God. Adam the original manager of earth, checking in with His creator, on their daily walk. We chat about the day, survey the work, plan the next day’s work, and share our hearts, burdens, delights. I query about the state of our world, the health of my friends, the need for rain, the purpose He left me here on earth.

Then beyond querying, I beg for His resources to be shared with each of the concerns on my heart. Please God, bring healing, joy and peace to my dear friend and her family; Please God stop the evil pandemic and bring healing to those effected; Please God send peace and calm to the hearts of us humans so that we may love and not judge and quarrel and war; and Please God bring mission to my lonely heart.

Then me, who fears love in all it’s forms after the heartbreak of death, hear…

Just let your love flow like a mountain stream
And let your love grow with the smallest of dreams
And let your love show
And you’ll know what I mean, it’s the season.

Let your love fly like a bird on a wing
And let your love bind you to all living things
And let your love shine
And you’ll know what I mean, that’s the reason.
