Nothing can destroy hope and dreams like a city parks meeting. Local governments run by people who have their agenda, frame narratives to guide you along their path, and turn deaf ears when saying they are listening. Yep, last evening I attended one of these sessions, seeing the look of defeat on the faces around me.
It’s a small matter in the scheme of our world, yet to these people, it is their daily lives being greatly affected. Sitting there my heart hears theirs, and cries out… God, what can be done! To sit still in the face of pain, doesn’t settle with me… so why does it settle with these leaders? to promote self? to promote specialized groups? to avenge the supposed wealthy? jealousy? to pass on the pain they carry? To destroy a quiet enclave… because they want to share that land… something is missing in all this presentation…
So the look on those faces was deafening to my heart… While the look on the man in charge was hard and cold.
There is a solution… easy, simple, direct… yet Goliaths must be fought for permissions. My heart soared, this is it! Eyes brightened as I shared. Yet, the gloom of impossibility settled, for Goliaths are giants, forbearing, strong, hard hearted, and unbending.
Where is hope? where is maybe? where is possibility? Only with my God…
Fighting Goliaths is not my way, giving up typically overtakes me. Yet since death, I’m tired of giving up, tired of losing, and with nothing left to lose, I dare to hope. So many dreams, so many hopes fill this heart of mine, and for once I want to stand and say I am here, We are here, We matter…
There are the plans of man… then there are the plans of God… I don’t pretend to know God’s plan in this matter, but I do know the path of love is not being walked. Without love, where is God…
My God, this day, may you send the David, the arrow, that brings down Goliath. Mercy I plead, mercy upon these defeated people who don’t even cry. Mercy, I beg for them, mercy…
‘If you can’? said Jesus. Everything is possible for one who believes. Mark 9:23
