Solstice

During this shortest day of the year, in the midst of holiday chaos and loss, we are walking through a long, dark night.

This year of grief has been an uphill trek of darkness, out of the depths of death’s valley.

And yet I’m finding that truth, love, and peace are all seen the clearer when God’s light illumins through the dark. The brightness of day dims these treasures, while the dark trek allows God’s light to bring definition and clarity, where the treasures burn bright.

May I turn my eyes to the treasures that bring life to life; may I turn my eyes away from the dark and blinding surround.
