Pain and loneliness have plagued me since death, the companions that consume any comfort or joy. When joy does find me, pain and loneliness step in and say we are your perpetual companions, there’s no room for you joy, to linger here.
And so renewing my mind has become a daily cleansing, for I will trust in my God that pain and loneliness are not supreme, they have been temporary teachers that now must leave.
Yet this day, a new companion has encroached… fear. Many decisions and activities are happening in my days, and fear is telling me that you’re not up for the tasks… that these moves are going to undo you and an unrecoverable mess awaits. Fear…
Faith, trust, hope, comfort, guidance… where are you? Where are you my God?
Fear, as all lies, has truth in it’s words. Without my God, all is an unrecoverable mess; without my God, I will shrink away from the tasks; without my God, my loved ones will perish; without my God, I will perish.
So again my mind needs renewing, cleansing with truth… I may be facing complexities that overwhelm, yet I will not be destroyed, for my God loves… my God loves me.
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: Thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me. The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: Thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: Forsake not the works of thine own hands. psalm 138:7-8
