Another day…

Just another ordinary day, following a string of ordinary days. That’s good, right? No tragedies, no triumphs, except me waking, running errands, eating out alone.. those are my triumphs, ordinary as they are.

A younger man, handsome, chatted me up, while shopping at the hardware store… Really? Don’t you see my wrinkles? I was flattered, and he was actually very helpful.

Winding down with the sun, I gaze at the crescent moon. Beautiful, promise of a peaceful evening. Randy are you watching from that sliver of moon? I wish I knew where you are this very moment… What’s ordinary to you now…

Good night world.. Good night you lovely humans who walk this dusty earth… Good night…

  1. Oh this is lovely and poignant and poetic. “I wonder what is ordinary to you now” — what a profound reminder to embrace the ordinary and to anticipate a new, reborn ordinary in an eternity where the ordinary is superb. It reminds me of the last phrase of the Serenity prayer: “so that I may be reasonably happy in this lifetime, and supremely happy with You forever in the next”. May it be so for Randy, you, and yours today — Jane

    1. Dear Jane, thank you for your generous words. They warm my heart that someone truly gets what my heart pours out. Thank you. I must admit, I didn’t realize the serenity prayer ended as such, interesting. May your ordinary moments fill you with peace and joy!
