Paradigm Shift

Lately my being has been nudged, pondering, do I live as Jesus?

What does living as Jesus mean? Literally live as He, walking the paths of Israel and making disciples? Deeper though, seeing His love of God, His seeking God, His following God, His love of people, His serving people… this life that Jesus lived was love devoted to God and people.

Do I live as Jesus lived? No… comfort is first priority for me, the comfort of myself and my loved ones, then following God. Aren’t I told to not worry about where we’ll lay our heads or what we’ll eat or what we’ll wear? Matthew 6   These are the comforts of life, which take top priority in my being. Yet am I asked to give these concerns to God? To replace these concerns with… waking each day finding communion with my God? To trust that God directs and provides? I seek communion with God… yet is this my priority above comforts?

This is a paradigm shift within me… not just saying the words, but my being shifting. Slowly… agonizingly reflecting… this shift quakes within, an awakening of a new sunrise. Still, I’m not clear how this lives out in my life. A journey of reflection. I will stay aware of this nudging within…

For today… each day may I awake with one desire: you, my God; may I hear you and see you and trust you and follow you in each moment of this day… For you are the Director of this magnificent play of humanity, I am the responder living the play. (nod to John Onwuchekwa for the Director/responder reference.)

May I be given comforts and rest and life, to awake to another day…

May I be given boldness, to speak of God among men…

May I be given love of all, that flows to all…

May I be given strength, to follow God…

May I be given discernment and listening ears, to hear God…

May I be given love, to love God in return…

May I be given faith, to trust God…

May I be given protection, to be held near my God…

May I be given a curious heart, to seek God…

May I be given a troubled heart, to seek God…

May I be given a broken heart, to seek God…

Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things. Matthew 6:33
