Matthew 14:29-30
Surrounded by monstrous waves and driving wind, thundering noise and a blinding storm… Jesus was there, calm, in a clear voice calling… Donna…
On the undulating, unsteady seas, I walked to him… keep Him in your sight Donna, keep your eyes on Jesus…
Walking on water, step by step floating along, Jesus shining through the darkness keeping his eyes on me…
When surrounded by the deep, dark, storm of death… compassion flows from others. When death subsides after ravaging this being, all looks calm and serene and strong and healed. Yet within this calm is numbness blanketing tight, so that each morning may be accepted and each day walked. What happens when the numbness cracks or lifts? Agony, the ravages of death on this being, despair, overtakes and sinks.
Don’t look at the storms… don’t look at what’s around you… don’t take it all in… Yet when storms settle do I not see the damage? Do I turn away and let suffering slither? Here… here… feed my sheep, comfort my sheep, love. I must attend to the wounded parts within, bringing attention, an ear, a heart, love… for to walk and not see is saying go away, disappear, you don’t matter, you’re ugly, you’re self-centered, you’re not needed, you’re not wanted, die…
Life! To live I must see these grieving, ravaged parts within… embrace, listen, hold and comfort. Yet Jesus says don’t look at the storms… To bring all of me, every part whether in pain or despair, joy or hope, to bring every part of me, together… no part left behind…
Jesus I see you there, eyes of warm love, arm reaching, hand open, beckoning me, reaching to every part within, to hold me… I see you Jesus…
And here am I, not just the serene exterior, but each and every part within… I have found these parts, heard their cries, held them and loved them, and now we walk together… no part left behind… we walk to you my Jesus… eye to eye, we walk on water…
