Randy…

Recently I came across a picture of Randy at work, wiping down the tiny windshield eyes of the blue whale. One of my favorite pics of Randy… one of his favorite pics as well.

This day taking this pic in, I sensed something different… Randy embracing life! He was such an inspiration for me. Randy woke each morning ready to find the possible, the adventure, of the day; he loved to enter this world with abandon, and follow the paths of life.

When planning a trip, I was stressed with where to go, where to stay, how to get around, stressed with all the details big and small. Yet when Randy entered the planning, the fear dissipated and joy entered… Let’s just go now, it’ll be an exploratory trip! My heart leapt… yes! I wanted certainty of smoothness, certainty of not missing the best, certainty of joy, all the while stifling joy. Randy wanted the fullness of each day, looked for it, walked it, and found much joy. Bad things still happened, yet so many more exciting things happened!

What a lesson for me… embracing the possible, embracing the exploration, and releasing the fear and anxieties and uncertainties.
